In the Sermon on the Mount, Yeshua taught his disciples, saying, “When you fast…” meaning fasting is a normal part of following him. On another occasion, John the Baptist’s followers asked why his disciples weren’t fasting. In response he told them it wasn’t the time, but that “when the bridegroom was taken away…then they will fast.” Now is the time to express our longing for his return!
